Discovery: Oniric - Requiem for a Soldier

Italian composer Carlo De Filippo has been creating energetic swarms of atmospherical classical music for quite some time. His projects under the moniker Oniric are largely inspiring in a quite modern showmanship of cirque du soleil - the musical. Many of the music creations range from the excessive beauty and nature driven themes we'd come to expect from an Angelo Badalamenti soundtrack, to the sweet and sombre tales of loves lost hopes. 

"Requiem for a Soldier" is a mix of all Oniric styles. It holds the violin beauty listeners would come to expect from De Filippo's music, and the pounding percussion / hard hitting vibrant piano accompaniment found more often than not in dark metal recordings. A style when put together creates a vivid atmosphere, almost perfectly summarised by the accompanying video featuring key moments of the film Paths of Glory. If this is anything to go by, then De Filippo can certainly create more, and engage listeners keeping their emotions in check.
