AlunaGeorge release their debut album Body Music next week, and after
the initial, it's already flagged up as one of 2013's RnB underdogs. The
opening track "Outlines" gives AlunaGeorge a whole new audience.
Before, AlunaGeorge showcased a glitchy, electronic sound that’s very much late
night DJ as it is 90s Disco. Tracks like "Your Drums, Your Love" and
"Attracting Flies" have killer song structures, with the all-important
electronic vocal hook. The latter track is a poignant ballad
that has united music lovers from all stations of popularity. It's no surprise
that debut album Body Music features all of this, but enhanced to last
50 minutes.
Body Music's opening track sounds like it's been done before by many
RnB artists from the 90s. The slow progression and Aluna Francis' sultry vocal
creates a fantastic electro-pop mix. George Reid has created a fresh sound
reminiscent of the 90s, but as presentable and cult-esque as The Weeknd.
AlunaGeorge are combining audiences with their songs of pop and electronica. It
won't be long before AlunaGeorge top the charts and headline festivals at this
rate. Their previously released singles are solid musically and lyrically,
"Outlines" is no different. Body Music will be the Devotion
of 2013 - I welcome it.
