Why the lowercase t in tony?
There isn't really a definitive answer, I guess
since it's a solo act it needed a simple name to describe me.
What equipment are you using to record your music?
Literally the lowest of the low. Nothing flashy or
special at all.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
My biggest musical influences range quite a bit.
I'm really into progressive and experimental music, but I'm into every musical
style I've been introduced to, so I try to grab up as much inspiration as
possible.
Name one pre-existing piece of music you believe to
have shaped Who Knows?
It's hard to choose one piece of music that
influenced the album because so many styles have been fused together to create
it, but I guess modern proggy tracks like "Anatomy Anomalies" by The
Contortionist played a huge role as well as noisy and experimental tracks like
"Sink-O" by tUnE-yArDs
What made you want to start recording your blend of
experimental rock?
There were a lot of instrumental and experimental
music that really appealed to me, but making my own music took that appeal to a
whole new level. I just really wanted to make music that described me and my
sound.
What pedals are you using on your guitar?
For now I don't use pedals, but I plan on obtaining
some in the future for possible live shows.
What is the local scene like in Joilet?
It's decent, a lot of bands that get pretty
successful and then randomly break up. If I had to be honest though, there's a
lack of support here when it comes to music. People are already self-cantered
even if they've only played one local show.
Do you intend to play live? Have you thought about
playing live?
I do! I definitely have, sometimes I try to think
of what my set list would consist of.
Being a multi-instrumentalist is a gift; do you
feel more complete creating all your music yourself?
Definitely, I get to do what I want and make the
music I want to make. Plus, I just love working on music alone. It's always
been a passion of mine.
What were your intentions with Who Knows? (What are
you trying to achieve.. have you recorded music before? First release you’ve
put out?)
I didn't
have many intentions. I went into many solo musical projects with little to no
success, so the fact that I'm doing my second online interview is mind-blowing
enough to me. I think I knew that I would be most successful doing THIS
project, due to the fact that it's what I'm most passionate about and it's the
best sounding out of all of my projects. I've released noise music in the past
as well as more prog and rock music. I would give you names, but I would not
want you to cringe at how bad it is.
